1. Thales South Africa

Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary. I was also responsible for BID pricings, IT as well as Legal and Contracts Management. Major mandate was to assist with implementation of the Restructuring plan and establishing improvements on internal processes with emphasis on team dynamics and contracts accounting and corporate reporting.

 

Achievements include:

Consolidation of legal entities to create synergies. This included the consolidation of ERP databases; updated agreements with both suppliers and customers on migration of their contracts to the consolidated entity and liaison with CIPC on company changes. Improved bid and financial reporting reliability and processes.

 

2.MultiChoice technical Operations (DSTV Online)

Chief Financial Officer and was also responsible for the set-up of the finance team for the new entity within the MultiChoice group. I was responsible for ensuring that legal agreements with customers and suppliers were compliant with related laws and underlying content contracts; setup of finance processes related to online sales (including PVR and internet based sales).

 

Achievements include:

Established a new finance department; Migrated the accounting system to SAP; Set pricing and business ruled for new products; Established product profitability analysis reports for input to executive management decision making structures.

 

3.Denel Aerostructures (a division of Denel (Pty) Ltd) and Denel Saab Aerostructures (Pty) Ltd

 

I joined Denel as a financial manager for Denel Aviation division in 2004. In 2007, the division was split and a subsidiary, Denel Saab Aerostructures (Pty) Ltd was incorporated (owned by Denel (Pty) Ltd and Saab (a Swedish company)). I was promoted to CFO on incorporation of the company and was also responsible for the Legal (including Company Secretariat) and the IT function.

 

Achievements include:

• Streamline processes within the finance department; Stabilisation of reporting within the organisation to various internal stakeholders as well as the Board and shareholders;

• Lead for the Denel group on the conversion to IFRS; Implementation of standard costing and related processes;

• Appointment to various Boards within the Denel Group;

• In-sourcing of payroll in order to minimise costs and improve controls; Reduced inventory holdings levels through better stock controls and minimum order quantity principles;

• Streamlining of the new business pricing and contracting process; Set pricing strategy and recommend pricing for new products;

• Lead the restructuring team in order to provide recommendations to Board and Key stakeholders on company turnaround;

 

4.KPMG

 

Joined KPMG in 1998 as an audit clerk and stayed on as manager until I left the company for Denel (above) in 2004.  Audit manager and technical support (Jan 1999 to July 2004)

 

5.Sasol Group of companies

I studied my junior degree through a Sasol Bursary and was then obliged to work back the bursary period with the company. I started work as a vacation employee and after the degree I worked with Sasol Synthetics Fuels as both a Creditors Clerk as well as a Cost Accountant.
